I oktober 2016 lanserades Bloomberg Aspen Initiative on Cities and Autonomous Vehicles, ett projekt vars syfte är att involvera städer runt om i världen i diskussioner som rör automatiserade fordon och hur de kan förbereda sig för introduktion av dessa [1]. Planen är att ta fram principer och verktyg som kan appliceras för att påskynda planeringsarbetet i de deltagande städerna.

Fram till idag har ett tiotal städer anslutit sig till initiativet, däribland Austin, Buenos Aires, Los Angeles, Paris, Nashville, Helsingfors, London, São Paulo, Tel Aviv, Washington D.C., Be’er Sheva, Toronto, Anchorage, Baltimore, Detroit och Durham.
